The Web/Applications Developer is responsible for architecture and design, planning, installation, configuration, support and ongoing maintenance the Authority’s web presence.

 

THE CORE FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Receives, log and escalate service requests as a first point of contact for the IT Department.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the corporate intranet and Internet websites.
  • Creates several design elements.
  • Reviews the site for consistent content.
  • Manages the overall aesthetic look/feel of the site.
  • Consults with managers to gather design and content specifications.
  • Develops web applications, including testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Reviews requirements for application enhancements.
  • Designs, develops, and articulates solutions based on a customer's strategic business or technical requirements.
  • Provides operational support of web server system includes monitoring of web-based application software operations, routine/high priority system problem identification and assisting with high priority corrective action.
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation for the web and application environments, including network diagrams, installation and configuration procedures, troubleshooting guidelines, and operational procedures.
  • Constructs relational database structures along with strategies for accessing the data to be used within dynamic web applications.
  • Develops a graphic design that effectively communicates the ideas being promoted by the website.
  • Takes part in the initial planning of a website, meeting with the client to discuss ideas for the layout and organization of the site, the type of colors or images to use (photos illustration, videos etc.)
  • Conducts content management training.
  • Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Ability to perform duties according to assigned rosters or plans that can be formulated in times of authorized service exigencies.
  • Ability to use the relevant computer applications related to job functions.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Knowledge of internet technology including HTML, CGI, PHP, ASP, JAVA Script, Cold Fusion and SQL
  • 2+ Years’ experience in development of Relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
  • 2+ Years’ experience working with web development (e.g. ASP.NET, PHP, Java / JSP)
  • 2+ Years’ experience in database management systems (DBMS) administration maintenance, database design, analysis and management.
  • Knowledge of server hardware and software technologies including Linux and Windows based server.
  • Knowledge of standard computer hardware, software and computer systems analysis
  • Knowledge of database and database design concepts, data communication and network systems and database integration on the web
  • Knowledge of web page layout, design and graphic illustration will be an asset
  • Knowledge of crystal reports will also be considered an asset
  • Minimum of Four (4) years experience in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in a medium to large business environment.
