The role involves overseeing Seahorse National Park’s daily operations, supervising staff, implementing the master plan, managing construction, monitoring progress, ensuring safety, liaising with stakeholders, and promoting the Park.

 

Seahorse National Park at Sweetings Pond & Hatchet Bay Caves

The Bahamas National Trust seeks to engage qualified personnel who will be responsible for overseeing the direction and progress of the phase 1 build-out of Seahorse National Park and undertaking the advisory, administrative, compliance, and practical duties required to keep the site organized and operating within budget and time projections.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of Seahorse National Park.
  • Implement a master plan for the Phase 1 build-out of Seahorse National Park.
  • Supervise Park staff, laborers, and construction workers.
  • Develop and implement general management and park operational plans.
  • Review building designs and drawings.
  • Monitor build out costs and project progress.
  • Regularly review the project progress and make adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct regular meetings with all persons involved with the project.
  • Liaise with the Director of Parks regarding project progress and the hiring of subcontractors.
  • Communicate project progress with all stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality and safety control checks and inspections.
  • Source and procure materials, equipment, and supplies needed for the project including overseeing their transport to the site.
  • Prepare site reports and budgets.
  • Assess and analyze working conditions at the site.
  • Maintain order at the site and ensure that all staff, visitors, and contracted employees are co-existing safely and abiding by Park rules and the laws of The Bahamas.
  • Work on-site in all weather conditions.
  • Use technology to manage project tasks and timelines.
  • Represent The Bahamas National Trust at trainings and workshops.
  • Work with local partners and community stakeholders to promote the importance of the Park.
  • Work safely without injury to self, others, and property.
  • Interact with staff, volunteers, laborers, construction workers, and the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of special events and other project as needed.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree or a professional certification in Project Management, Construction Science, Construction Management or Technology, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience working as a Site Manager, Project Manager, or in Construction Management.
  • Knowledge of building and construction.
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and designs.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality in construction work.
  • Excellent time management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to supervise, coordinate, and communicate with multiple work teams.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Good initiative and logical thinking skills.
  • Good business management skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and other project management software.
  • Local knowledge of Eleuthera.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • General good physical condition.
  • Able and willing to work outdoors when the weather is hot, humid, rainy, or cold
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. Fluency in a second language is a plus.
