The Sewage Plant Attendant, under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor will maintain the cleanliness of the sewage treatment plant at the hospital.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • Secondary School Certification 
  • HEART/NTA Certification in Plumbing Level 1 is an asset

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Continuously cleaning wet well. 
  • Pumping sewage to the elevated tank. 
  • Ensuring the lift pump and air pumps are functioning efficiently and all parts are correct and in good order. 
  • Changing or servicing the lift and air pumps. 
  • Treating or chlorinating the effluent water as per the agrees frequency. 
  • Cleaning all manholes in the sewerage network to allowing them to be free from debris.
  • Maintaining the log book with correct entries. 
  • Accounting for the tools and materials of trade and the work area is clean and in good order. 
  • Priming the eroded spots on the metal equipment. 
  • Strict adherence to the treatment of waste water policies and procedures. 

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH JOB

  • Heavy lifting, frequent bending, pushing and shovelling 
  • Exposure to large amount of hazardous materials on a daily basis 
  • Wearing of protective gears for a long period of time
