Job overview

The Wellbeing Curriculum provides students with a comprehensive foundation for leading fulfilling lives and navigating the intricate and everchanging challenges of the contemporary world. It involves aspects of a PSHE styled curriculum along with self-awareness, personal safety, emotional regulation, resilience, empathy, movement, decision-making, and healthy relationship-building. It establishes a platform for students to develop as engaged citizens who recognize the importance of leading healthy, active, sustainable lifestyles, and is instrumental in cultivating a strong sense of connection among students to their school, community, and the wider society.

 

This Wellbeing Coordinator position has the following expectations:

  • Knowledge of and experience leading the delivery of an established Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE) and/or a Wellbeing Curriculum.
  • Have the skills to incorporate appropriate links and themes relevant to Bermuda into the Wellbeing Curriculum.
  • Leadership of the Secondary School Wellbeing curriculum delivering both teaching discrete PSHE styled lessons and theme-based learning from Year 7 to Year 13.
  • Working with the Pastoral Team to deliver appropriate Wellbeing aspects in Homeroom time and Year assemblies.
  • Engage external expertise to enhance the Wellbeing of the students at WA. e.g. speakers for Year groups, assemblies, workshops, training, etc.
  • Work closely with the Primary School to ensure a cohesive, efficient, and relevant Wellbeing programme across both schools.
  • Develop and facilitate a workshop programme to engage parents in relevant Wellbeing topics.
  • Develop a communication platform to share Wellbeing information with parents, staff, and students.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelors or Master’s degree in a teaching subject along with teaching experience in the Wellbeing/PSHE subject area as described above, as well as a teaching qualification (PGCE or B.Ed or equivalent) at the Secondary School level. Knowledge of and experience in the educational programmes offered at Warwick Academy (UK National Curriculum, IGCSE/GCSE, International Baccalaureate, and BTEC) is a significant advantage. Applicants are expected to contribute to the school’s extensive pastoral & co-curricular programmes, and relate positively to students, staff, and parents.

Successful applicants will be subject to a criminal check, SCARS training and must meet the requirements for the Bermuda Educators Council teacher’s license
