The Revenue Accounts Clerk handles payment vouchers, maintains revenue files and cheque registers, and reconciles daily collections for Customs House and e-payments.

 

Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Revenue Accountant, the Revenue Accounts Clerk is responsible to:

  • Prepare payment and Journal Vouchers for Refund and Drawback.
  • Maintaining various revenue files.
  • Reconcile daily collection against source data for Customs House head office and e-payments.
  • Maintaining cheques Register

 

Key Responsibility Areas

Technical/Professional Responsibilities

  • Prepares Payment Vouchers and Journal vouchers for Refund/Drawback.
  • Enter information into system on the instructions of the Revenue Accountant.
  • Prepares cheques.
  • Maintains and monitor cheques Registers.
  • Maintains files for Lodgement Slips.
  • Complete refunds and communicate completion to applicants.
  • Prepares monthly statement for any manual operations.
  • Reconcile daily collection against source data for Customs House head office and e-payments.
  • Prepares and submits all manual data to the Assistant Revenue Accountant to be journalized.

Customer Service Responsibilities

  • Maintains customer service principles, standards, and measurements.
  • Identifies and incorporates the interests and needs of customers in business process design.
  • Ensures critical success factors are identified and meet expectations.

Other Responsibilities

  • Performs all other duties and functions as may be required from time to time.
  • May be required to provide witness statements, attend court proceedings, and give evidence.
  • Complies with Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.

Minimum Required Education And Experience

  • Education and training equivalent to AAT Foundation.

OR

  • A certificate in Accounting from a recognized Tertiary Institution.

OR

  • Successful completion of Level 1 of the Certificate in Government Accounting.
  • Four (4) General Proficiency passes in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), or General Certificate of Education O’Levels passes in subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
  • 1-2 years related working experience.
