Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining inventory of food supplies, general supplies and equipment in the dietary/general stores in accordance with established governmental procedures.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • Four (4) CSEC/GCE/SSC or City of Guilds subjects at the ordinary level including English Language and Mathematics or Accounts. 
  • One (1) year experience working in a Stores/Supplies Unit preferably within a public sector organization 

OR 

  • Any other equivalent combination of experience and qualifications 
  • Certificate in Supplies Management (MIND) would be an asset 
  • Food handlers Permit 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the Financial Administration and Audit Act (F.A.A) 
  • Knowledge of Government of Jamaica (G.O.J) Stores Management practices
  • Knowledge of safety regulations 
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft word, Microsoft excel
  • Working knowledge of stores management software application 
  • Good understanding of interpreting stores documents 
  • Good interpersonal communication skills 
  • Good conflict resolution skills 
  • Excellent time management skills 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 

 

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Issue stock to the dietary staff and general staff 
  • Tags supplies and stock shelves 
  • Ensures that items issued from the day stores are supported by properly completed and approved documentation 
  • Tags supplies and stock shelves 
  • Ensure Hazardous materials are store safety 
  • Notify the Assistant Dietitian immediately of any concerns regarding quantities or quality issue of food or food products 
  • Ensures that the accounting procedures for items received into, and issued from the day store are maintained 
  • On a weekly basis, carry out a physical inventory, verify against records and report any discrepancy
  • Avoids stock-out of items by monitoring stores minimum order level.
