To ensure that as far as is practicable, patients are afforded the highest possible quality of health care.

 

KEY OUTPUTS:

  • Implementation of nursing standards, policies, norms, etc.
  • Systems for evaluation of patients care.
  • Up-to-date statistics, research, etc. on patient care.
  • Effective communication systems.
  • Properly developed staff.

 

RANGE OF ACTIVITIES: 

  • Collaborate with the Nursing Administration and Nursing Education agencies for implementing nursing standards, policies and nouns. 
  • Advise on the development, modification and standardisation of nursing care. 
  • Monitor and evaluate patient care activities using nursing audit. 
  • Identify areas which need remedial action and provide feedback of findings to the relevant department of the Hospital. 
  • Compile statistics on patient care activities.
  • Participate as a resource person in educational programme development.
  • Participate in research to improve skills and nursing care.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Registered Staff Nurse with the General Nursing Council of Guyana and specialised training in quality assurance plus three (3) years post graduate experience. 

 

DECISION MAKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND IMPACT ON RESULTS:

The job holder works within the ambit of recognised standards of nursing procedures and methods including implementing and advising on nursing care. He/she makes decisions on the level of health care to be given to patients. The work consists of varied duties involving a wide range of techniques and nursing audit tools for the evaluation of patient care. 

 

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:

  • The job holder has to manage the equipment of the Quality Assurance Unit. 

 

COMMUNICATIONS:

The job holder has to make contact with the Nursing Administration, Nursing Education, Hospital Administrators, etc. to monitor, and evaluate patient care activities.
