This role reports to the Vice President, Head of Merchant Services, and is responsible for supporting Butterfield’s Merchant Acquiring business.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and monitoring existing merchant relationships
  • Acquiring new merchant business.
  • Providing superior customer service to Merchants as needed including; account reconciliations, daily submission & payment servicing requests etc.
  • Maintaining up to date systems and application knowledge and alerts merchants to new products and services.
  • Maintaining high level product knowledge of merchant processing products and a good understanding of the Merchant Acquiring industry in addition to trends and issues.
  • Identifying prospective clients by working with other departments to onboard them for the acceptance of American Express, Mastercard and Visa card products.
  • Promoting and selling Acquiring Services and products to merchants.
  • Calling customers and potential customers, delivering presentations, closing sales agreements, and arranging installations.
  • Documenting and communicating business requirements for new products, programmes and services to Bank Operations, IT and third-party service providers.
  • Liaising with internal IT POS technicians, other internal service providers and third party service providers to ensure adequate, timely and reliable support for existing and new card acceptance products.
  • Maintaining constant contact with customers, monitoring activity, maintaining and sharing accurate, relevant documentation.
  • Preparing incident reports for all fault occurrences with assigned products.
  • Assessing risks related to various product lines and where necessary recommend treatments; where controls exist, reviewing and reporting non-compliance in adherence to PCI Data Security Standards.
  • Continually reviewing processes and product efficiencies and where necessary make recommendations for improvements
  • Conducting user acceptance testing on new products and services and assist in the rollout.

 

Your qualifications and skills include:

  • High School diploma plus five years relevant banking/customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • An ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Strong analytical, technical and critical thinking skills.
  • Previous experience in Card/Merchant Acquiring product environment a plus
  • Strong Sales, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Sound understanding of the Bank’s merchant products and services and of the applications that support them.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications
