The Photographer captures and sells memorable cruise experiences, engaging guests onboard and ashore, while supporting various photography services and meeting sales targets under Photo Management guidance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Photographer will work within and learn from a team to create and sell warm and personal photography experiences that our guests can use to celebrate and share their cruise vacation. They will learn how to capture and engage our guests in a variety of settings both on board and ashore to produce high quality products sold in our Photography storefront.

They will form an integral part of a multifaceted department that includes several different Photo businesses including Portrait, Souvenir and Wedding photography along with a full retail store.  Under the guidance of the Photo Management team, they will deliver their assigned image counts and sales targets while providing guest satisfaction in all department areas to achieve budgeted goals.

  • Proactively greet guests in the photo gallery and assist guests in using digital photo kiosks and make selections of their favorite photos and packages.
  • Clearly explain the products and services to guests and always open and close Guest interactions using effective sales techniques.
  • Photograph all requested events onboard and ashore as scheduled by the Photo Manager.  Meet established performance goals.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by presenting a friendly, warm, and calm attitude towards guests and crew.
  • Competently use and be familiar with a range of photographic equipment, including but not limited to digital SLR cameras, portrait studio equipment, computers and image editing software.
  • Ensure photographs are captured correctly and tagged with the guest cabins per instruction from Photo manager and Assistant Photo Managers.
  • Wear mascot costumes inside/outside the ship for photo shoots when required, engaging guests with lively energy and enthusiasm at all times.
  • Uses POS to accurately charge each transaction as directed by management.
  • Participates attentively in training and staff meetings with management.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in a customer service and/or retail sales environment is required
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience as a professional photographer or a certificate of completion from a training course specific to cruise ship photography.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper use of English grammar is required.

 

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent from a recognized educational institution is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for this educational preference at an equivalent rate.
