Lead food security and livelihoods design, integrate WV’s approach, build capacity, monitor progress, document lessons, and oversee community resilience, market-based interventions, and project sustainability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with state and community partners to lead the design of food security and livelihoods through innovative and appropriate interventions, which strengthen the capacity of the program to deliver programmatic objectives with those of the office's national strategy.
  • The project objectives are contextualized within community structures.
  • All stakeholders are regularly informed of the project's achievements and objectives.
  • Work with PZ managers and other technicians within the region to ensure the integration of WV’s approach to livelihoods (women’s economic leadership, market power and adaptation and risk reduction) into partner programmes and portfolios. This will include supporting the development of programme plans, project proposals and project monitoring and evaluation reviews.
  • Good working relationships and project integration with cluster managers and regional programs.
  • Good designs for community projects.
  • Support the development of mechanisms and tools that facilitate staff and partners to document lessons learned and models of good practices in our livelihoods and share these good practices.
  • Organize quarterly review meetings for partners and communities at project sites to reflect on approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies of programs/projects, as well as to create spaces and opportunities for action learning and debate.
  • Capacity building of S4T methodologies for staff.
  • Increase in the number of S4T groups in communities
  • Increased complementary activities within the community, such as soil retention, stone lines and disaster management for communities.
  • Documentation of learning from sharing with communities and stakeholders. Corrective actions should be implemented regularly.
  • Identify, enroll and train solidarity mutuals while ensuring that they are operational.
  • Ensures/Participates in the implementation and training of community members on the Savings Groups/S4T approach, its general operating principles and its character as a medium and long-term resilience tool for Communities.
  • Identify and design interventions that combine the restoration of essential services with livelihood opportunities for community stability.
  • Oversee cash and other market-based modalities to achieve project objectives.
  • Development of a market monitoring tool during project implementation

 

Target groups are set up and are functional:

  • - 100% of the group members have a good command of: the roles, responsibilities, rights and duties of each of the parties concerned (World Vision, districts, members of the Savings Group Management Committee), and operate in compliance with these principles.
  • - Women's groups and associations are supported in the identification, development and management of micro-projects relating to their needs/Selection, planning and management of income-generating activities.
  • - The technical and financial capacity of members who own small businesses is strengthened (basic accounting, purchase price, sale price, profit, journal, investment fund.
  • - Training sessions for women who save or benefit from credit in Haiti are organized.
  • - Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly progress reports, as well as specific activity reports and any other reports, if necessary, to his/her supervisor in a timely manner.
  • - Quality reports, which include progress statistics, are communicated regularly to supervisors.
  • - Mobilize project officers in the field to organize training in mastering know-how and commercial skills for targeted beneficiary groups and to strengthen their capacities through mentoring and support.
  • - Mobilizes and guides farmers to form savings and development groups/clusters, i.e. establish leadership structure, constitutions, bylaws, registration with community development office.
  • - Support for monitoring seed distribution and provision of results and yield analyses.
  • - Creation and monitoring of small businesses through innovative added value
  • - Good capacity building of staff in complementary activities including income generating activities, S4T, etc.
  • - Represent the project in Food Security and Livelihoods Working Group meetings.
  • - Strengthening technical capacities with other partners in the same sectors.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (World, Excel) and understanding of Information Systems (MIS).
  • Proficiency in Creole, proficiency in written and spoken French
  • Knowledge of English desired but not obligatory
  • Good ability to present technical content in French and Creole; didactic capacity, clarity and patience
  • Good knowledge of local stakeholders
  • Good analysis of training needs
  • Good monitoring of the training work carried out and its suitability to local needs;
  • Very good writing skills
  • Monitoring of project activities quantitatively and qualitatively;
  • Good analytical and synthesis skills
  • Documentation of stories and lessons learned;
  • Valid driving license (motorcycle);
  • Good ability to make recommendations and propose solutions
  • Very good listening and dialogue skills
  • Have a sense of responsibility
  • Have at least a degree or diploma in agronomy, agroeconomics or nutrition.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in the implementation of multi-sector projects and community development.
  • Engineering degree in agronomy, agroeconomics or food science and technology.
  • The position is field based with 40% travel to the National Office for coordination arrangements.
