The incumbent is responsible for the management of the Enterprise Application Environment at Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute. This includes monitoring performance availability, integration and automation of application solutions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor the security and performance of the application environment.
  • Managed the second level support of all core enterprise applications.
  • Ensure that change management protocols are adhered to, facilitating a stable environment.

Main Duties

  • Responsible for the deployment of applications and the installation of security patches.
  • Responsible for the configuration, testing, and ongoing review of applications.
  • Identifies trending gaps or issues in day-to-day performance of all applications and components utilizing active monitoring, alert management, reporting, and process review.
  • Perform business process analysis and redesign with a view to introducing information technology solutions to address evolving business needs.
  • Supports disaster recovery planning and executing disaster recovery activities and testing as required.
  • Responsible for working with vendors to facilitate the purchase, and installation of hardware and software products.
  • Assists with IT audit preparation and compliance for both internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare reports of work requests, budget expenditures, purchase orders or materials usage as requested by the IT Director, or Designate.

 

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  • Monitoring mechanisms are in place to provide standards and to guide applications improvements as required
  • Policies and procedures relating to applications administration are in place and are up to date (no more than 2 years old)
  • Timely and accurate submission of monitoring and evaluation IT applications reports.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or Information Systems. Must be proficient in managing application environments..
  • Possess high level understanding in the areas of application programming, content management systems, API, databases, and system design.

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated individual that possesses excellent time management, organizational and team building skills.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people.

Specialised Knowledge

  • At least three (5) years’ experience working in an application environment with a working knowledge of Document Management & Imaging applications, Enterprise Web based Applications andMicrosoft SharePoint, Microsoft Server administration, Microsoft Cloud computing. Ability to interpret technical instructions, specifications and procedures.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting with most time spent working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend and crawl.

  • Critical thinking regarding technical problem solving.
  • Use of feedback to improve technology solutions.
  • Development of IT applications assessment reports, processes and IT
  • applications for accreditation documentation and to inform operational and instructional decisions.

 

Working Conditions

  • Flexibility to travel to various BTVI locations.
  • May be required to work beyond normal office hours.

 

Authority

  • Institute applications monitoring policies and protocols at the BVTI.
  • Manage the BVTI’s applications monitoring processes in accordance with institute policies.
  • Assess applications and make recommendations regarding implementation and or required changes.
  • Research background data and related details to inform applications decisions.
