Liaise with industry and employers to provide a cohesive training system.

 

RANGE OF ACTIVITIES:

  • Assist in the provision of facilities (which may include residential accommodation) for the successful training of those persons whom the Council considers need assistance of such facilities.
  • Assist persons in finding apprenticeship places in industry and admission to technical institutes.
  • Directs and administrates TVET student/trainee services and programmes.
  • Plan the execution of Council’s programme with respect to student/trainee services in collaboration with service providers.
  • Liaise with relevant administrative, technical and support staff.
  • Advise students on academic matters and personal problems.
  • Referring students/trainees to relevant personnel as required to deal with issues of concern to the students/trainees.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations pertaining to training, discipline and related issues.
  • Provide information and vocational guidance to persons about the choices during their progress from general education to post-secondary technical and vocational education and training.
  • Be assigned to work with advisory committees.
  • Execute any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Director.  


QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Candidates for this position should be the holder of one of the following:

  • A first degree in Sociology or Technical Education.
  • The person employed must have worked in the delivery of education for at least 3 years. The job will entail field activities thus the candidate must be prepared to work under field conditions and be away from home at times.

OR

  • The Guyana Technical Education Examination Certificate Part II in Building or Telecommunication or its equivalent plus 4 years industrial experience or experience in the delivery of training in a post-secondary institution. 

OR

  • The Guyana Technical Education Examination Engineering Technician Certificate Part III or its equivalent plus 4 years industrial experience or experience in the delivery of training in a post-secondary institution.

OR

  • Any other qualification considered equivalent relevant experience.
