The incumbent assists in diagnostic procedures, provides peri-procedural care, manages sedated patients, monitors medication use, oversees inventory, and delivers patient education in Diagnostic Imaging.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepares for and assists during various diagnostic procedures in Radiology, CAT scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Density and Cardiac Diagnostic Unit
  • Provides care and monitoring pre, peri and post procedure in the prep/recovery unit. This will include some management of sedated/anaesthetised patients post procedure.
  •  Understands the pharmacology of medications administered in DI and CDU and recognizes special considerations related to drugs and contrast media procedures
  • Develops and manages inventory of supplies including pharmaceuticals, patient care and special procedure supplies.
  •  Utilizes Nursing, Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiac Diagnostic procedural knowledge to plan for patient care needs within the department and hospital environment
  • Provides pertinent health education and procedural teaching to all Diagnostic Imaging patients their immediate caregivers and professional colleagues as required, to optimize patient care

 

Qualifications & Registration required:

  • Five years (5) of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Two years’ experience as an Emergency/Critical Care Nurse
  • Three (3) additional years in Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Two (2) years of experience in Intravenous (IV) Therapy
  • Required certifications: Critical Care Certificate, BLS, ACLS, IV therapy
  • Preferred certifications: PALS, PACU or, Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN)
