Coordinates and manages the implementation of Health Sector generated HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control programmes in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates the management of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control programmes with special emphasis on the HIV/AIDS in the Workplace. 
  • In collaboration with the Public Education Sub-Committee on HIV/AIDS, develops systems and structures for continuous HIV/AIDS health promotion and education nationally. 
  • In collaboration with the Regional Health Authorities HIV/AIDS Focal Points, monitors and evaluates all educational and promotional activities on HIV/AIDS prevention among the general population and vulnerable population. 
  • Monitors the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) programme.
  • Coordinates the implementation of a comprehensive national HIV testing programme.
  • Participates in policy formulation relating to HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
  • Ensures the participation of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the development of prevention programmes. 
  • Participates in the development of an annual work plan with budget and monitors use of funds. 
  • Participates in the preparation of annual progress reports for the Programme Director of the HIV/AIDS Co-ordinating Unit. 
  • May be called upon to represent the Ministry of Health at national and international meetings and seminars on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Considerable knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and control programmes including health promotional and educational projects and activities. 
  • Considerable knowledge of the operations of the Trinidad and Tobago health care system. 
  • Experience in Project Management would be an asset. 
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary and multisectoral teams.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • B.Sc or advance degree in the Medical or Social Sciences from a recognized University (recommended MPH, MSc. or MA). 
  • At least five (5) years of experience in an HIV/AIDS prevention and health promotion programme will be an asset. 
  • Experience in Management and Public Health would be an asset.
