The incumbent will be responsible for producing Implementable Designs, Estimates and Bills of Quantities for all New Housing Schemes, Unserved Areas, Road Expansion Projects and Major Transmission & Distribution Network Extensions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Visit and survey Project sites.
  • Finalize designs, estimates and Bill of Quantities for New Housing Schemes, Network Relocation to facilitate Road Improvement Projects, Major Distribution Network Extension.
  • Prepare Authorization of works for T&D Network Modifications.
  • Liaise with other relevant departments and schedule joint site visits for the identification and finalization of Rights-of-Way and produce Bill of Quantities and Designs for D&E Projects and any other projects in relation to improving the quality and service of electricity delivered to new and existing customers.
  • Review EPC proposed Project Designs and associated Bill of Quantities and Prepare Review Report.
  • Identify and advise the Manager on areas for improving the methodology involved in processing Service Orders, the Department’s SIPOC and any other interdepartmental business relationships.
  • Provide guidance and training to Direct Reports to aid their development-of the requisite job skillsets.
  • Assist with the preparation of Annual Operational and Capital Budgets and monitoring of expenditure to ensure conformity with budget guidelines.
  • Assist with the compilation of reports to inform the annual updating of the D&E Programme, where such reports shall be but not limited to system adjustments and improvements for the previous year, unserved areas, new housing schemes.
  • Investigate and take appropriate recourse actions to resolve infractions and disputes in accordance with the relevant Company policy in a timely manner.
  • Develop Individual Performance Plans and Learning & Development Plans.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned to you within the scope of your employment, from a duly Authorized Officer of GPL.

 

COMPETENCY PROFILE:

  • Problem solving and Analytical Skills
  • Knowledge of overhead line design and current design specification
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft office suite (Word, Visio & Microsoft project)
  • Ability to analyze engineering drawings and using the associated software
  • Knowledge of circuit analysis through the use of the appropriate software.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Guyana or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least five (5) years’ of work experience in Transmission and Distribution and Substation designs
