The Messenger/Handyman will handle driving, messenger tasks, light maintenance, vehicle upkeep, passenger safety, record-keeping, and errands to support the operations of the Bahamas National Trust.

 

Job Purpose

The Bahamas National Trust seeks to engage a Messenger/Handyman who will be responsible for driving, messenger tasks, and light maintenance to support the operations of the Bahamas National Trust. The Messenger/Handyman will also be responsible for vehicle maintenance, passenger safety, record-keeping, errand running, messenger work and light maintenance assistance at the office.

 

Responsibilities

Messenger

  • Coordinate and execute the collection and delivery of messages, documents, packages, and other items between offices or departments, vendors and government offices as requested.
  • Execute all transactions on behalf of the organization, as required.
  • Oversee the coordination, set up, maintenance, and breakdown of food areas for in-house meetings and events.
  • Provide clerical support to the Operations Department as required.

Handyman

  • Dispose of waste materials at the end of each day as needed.
  • Ensure that all company vehicles are in good running condition.
  • Carry out simple checks of the company vehicles on a regular basis including:
  • Checking of engine oil level and topping up, if necessary.
  • Washing and cleaning of company vehicles both internal and exterior.
  • Checking of all lights, horns, wipes, brakes, and clutches to ensure that they are in good working condition and report any issues to the Operations Manager immediately.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of all vehicles for dents, scratches and any other cosmetic damage and report them to the Operations Manager immediately.
  • Maintain maintenance log for all vehicles.
  • Scheduling of regular service of vehicles as needed.
  • Carry out basic repairs as needed at Headquarters.
  • Any other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Driving proficiency in both manual and automatic vehicles
  • Customer service attitude.
  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
  • Very good physical condition and strength.
