Groundsman

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains lawn and garden areas
• Collects and disposes of all trash and other debris on the property
• Maintains and services all equipment and tools used in the performance of duty   
• Digs, plants and prunes flowers and edges
• Assists with the loading or unloading of materials and supplies
• Participates in the internal relocation of staff
• Advises Supervisor of need for repair or replacement of equipment
• Assists with the erection and dismantling of display boards
• Assists with painting, carpentry and auto mechanics
• Collection, storage and replenishment of potable water at water coolers

Unusual Requirements/Working Conditions:

The incumbent may be exposed to the following circumstances deemed to be unusual:

• Outdoor subject to sun

Minimum Educational Requirements:

• School leaving Certificate (High School)
• NCTVET Certification in Horticulture

Experience:

• One [1] year experience in a similar capacity

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of lawn and garden maintenance
• Familiarity with plants and their development
• Working knowledge of equipment maintenance and service
• Working knowledge of various aspects of plant maintenance such as painting and carpentry
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to be part of a team
• Good communication [both oral and written]
• Good teamwork skills
