Manages import and export operations, ensures legal compliance, coordinates with government agencies and customs brokers, oversees claims and transportation, maintains records, and ensures adherence to regulations and organizational policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain all documentation and activities necessary for the efficient, economical and legal execution of export and import activities.
  • Communicate with appropriate government departments in relation to imports and exports to ensure efficient and legal relationships, support and positive activities.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers to ensure efficient and timely clearance of all imports as well as claims for all refundable taxes and remittances made to expedite clearance. Follow up on all unpaid invoices, taxes, etc.
  • Archive information, stay current and provide training, as necessary, on all import and export laws, regulations and procedures, including duties, taxes, licenses, allowances and restrictions
  • Capacity building of employees on WV policies, donor rules and regulations and any new government rules that may affect the grant.
  • -Download monthly in BOX all documents relating to Customs and GIK activities as well as reports.
  • -Undertake mandatory WV trainings, donor trainings/workshops, etc. in a timely manner and complete LDR on time.
  • Follow up on everything that has been defined in the annual work plan and its performance agreement.
  • Manage all claims with shippers, shipping lines and carriers for all losses and damages related to cargo received.
  • Coordinate the transport of imports to designated locations
  • -Ensure effective communication of all service delivery information to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Manage the entire GIK process including customs clearance, receiving and distribution, in coordination with Operations and depots.
  • Ensure that the processes carried out for customs clearances meet WV standards
  • Ensure that the organization's operating papers (franchises, discharges and other authorizations) are up to date and meet the requirements of the Haitian government.
  • Identify all risks and hazards and provide means to prevent adverse outcomes.

 

Educations & Experience:

  • More than 3 years of experience in customs and logistics management
  • Degree in management and business administration, Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Diploma in customs techniques and training in customs commission
  • Certification in customs clearance or as a customs broker
  • Fluency in French and English (written and spoken)
  • Extensive knowledge of all regulations, laws and shipping requirements for imports and exports
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Have a good sense of organization
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and to establish effective liaisons with government officials.
  • Ability to understand complex laws
  • Ability to effectively manage and mitigate risks
  • Leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to meet the requirements of various government entities
  • Good interpersonal skills and positive attitude towards continuous learning.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with multinational staff.
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to make domestic travel up to _15_% of the time.
