Chemonics is seeking a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor to support the newly awarded Justice Renewal and Advancement Program (USAID JRAP).

 

Role Overview

The GESI Advisor will provide technical assistance in identifying how project activities, outputs and indicators can be aligned to increase the participation of women and youth in the project and mitigate unintended consequences on men and women. They will ensure that GESI is emphasized in project activities and that a strategy is put in place to include men and women equitably. Recommendations will specifically identify opportunities for greater inclusion of women by project component and suggest specific activities and measures to be taken to help avoid unintended impacts of project outcomes on men and women. They will report directly to the Chief of Party and work closely with other members of the GESI, technical, program and field teams.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the GESI assessment and GESI action plan to be carried out at the beginning of the project start-up, in coordination with project management and component managers.
  • Identify gender and social inclusion gaps in all areas of the USAID JRAP project through participatory consultations with all technical component leaders.
  • Work with project management to ensure budget reflects integration of GESI considerations.
  • GESI integration and implementation resources developed and/or shared.
  • Work with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager to ensure GESI is taken into account in project performance monitoring.
  • Support the integration of GESI issues into project communications by actively seeking opportunities to feature GESI considerations in success stories, as well as including updates regarding GESI programming in each quarterly report, including how it is integrated into the activity, gender-disaggregated data and success stories.
  • Support the Operations and Finance team by ensuring that project policies are GESI sensitive.
  • Lead team in GESI in activity design during work planning sessions to enable team to assess GESI considerations of each activity.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree in business, economics or international development preferred.
  • Previous experience with USAID or other international donors preferred.
  • At least six years’ experience in the field of gender equality and social inclusion, including experience in Haiti.
  • Ability to work with cooperating partners to implement complex programs.
  • Proven experience in managing complex and competing priorities, meeting deadlines and communicating complex technical information to diverse audience
