The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) seeks to engage an Education & Outreach Officer who will be responsible for developing and advancing the education and outreach program at Moriah Harbour Cay National Park.

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, and implement field trips.
  • Lead field trips for primary to high school students.
  • Assist with the implementation of educational components of BNT projects.
  • Assist with exhibitions and public outreach events.
  • Support visitor park experience, tours, and camps.
  • Coordinate the distribution of educational materials.
  • Assist with the creation of educational and outreach materials.
  • Assist with the facilitation and execution of environmental education workshops as needed.
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and conferences as required.
  • Contribute to the BNT photo library, social media, and blogs.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in Natural Sciences or Education.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A natural public speaker with the ability to connect easily with audiences of all ages but especially with young people.
  • Knowledgeable and strong appreciation of the Bahamian natural environment.
  • Able to swim and willing to learn additional marine skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Must love the outdoors and can work in the sun, sand, and sea.
  • Able to lift 45lbs.
  • Flexible, adaptable, responsible, and safety conscientious.
  • Relatable and personable with students, groups, leaders, visitors, or locals.
  • A team player with a good work ethic.
  • Strong moral standards.
