To provide optimum nutrition care for patients with various medical conditions through nutrition counseling and therapy and through efficient meal service.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Provides healthy nutritional advice and counseling to patients.
  • Establishes meal patterns for calculated diets and monitors their usage and effectiveness.
  • Assists the Manager in coordinating medical nutrition therapy with foodservice.
  • Designs and develops nutrition educational materials regarding various health conditions for patients/ clients such as brochures and charts.
  • Confers with the medical team/health team on patient needs and nutrition-related health status.
  • Trains, supervises and appraises dietetic technicians and assistants. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc. Human Ecology (specializing in Nutrition and Dietetics).
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Institutional and Community Nutrition and Dietetics (Year-long Internship Programme).
  • At least two (2) years' experience in similar or related job function. Registered Dietitian with the Nutritionists and Dietitians Board of Trinidad and Tobago in accordance with the Council for Professions related to Medicine. 
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.
