The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) seeks to engage a Deputy Park Warden who will be responsible for Park enforcement and surveillance of species and habitat monitoring of Moriah Harbour Cay National Park.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct supervised prevention, enforcement, and compliance activities.
  • Ensure the well-being of all visitors in the Park.
  • Carry out the development and regular inspection of trails and other Park infrastructure.
  • Apply control measures for invasive alien species (terrestrial and marine).
  • Manage the National Park and adjacent areas.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of habitat restoration activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of conservation monitoring plans.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Biophysical Monitoring Plan for the Bahamas National Protected Area System (BNPAS).
  • Assist with planning and executing of activities in approved general management and strategic and operating plans.
  • Provide support for BNT projects, partner projects, and initiatives.
  • Provide written reports as required.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A high school diploma with at least three (3) BGCSEs (inclusive of English and Mathematics) with a C grade or above and at least five (5) years of experience working in Law Enforcement, OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field with no work experience.
  • Experience or knowledge in working in Bahamian marine and terrestrial environments.
  • Passion for the environment and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A competent swimmer.
  • Must be comfortable and have some experience with being on a boat and the water.
  • A SCUBA diving certification is a plus.
  • Able to act under direst and handle confrontations.
  • Able to work independently and as a part of a team in an accountable manner.
