Acted
For thirty years, the international NGO Acted has been working on the last mile of humanitarian action to save lives. Acted currently supports 20 million people in 43 countries to meet their needs in hard-to-reach areas, and pursues a triple humanitarian, environmental and development mandate. Acted draws on a detailed knowledge of local territories and contexts to develop and implement long-term actions, with a wide range of local and international partners, in order to build together a “3ZERO” world: Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty.
Acted Haiti
Present in Haiti since 2004, Acted responds to emergencies and supports the recovery of populations in need, particularly in the areas of water, hygiene and sanitation, food security and reconstruction. In collaboration with civil society and institutions, Acted also develops and implements programs focused on socio-economic development and adaptation to climate change. Acted currently works in 5 departments in Haiti, namely Grand'Anse, the South, the South-East, the West, and the Center, and soon in Nippes.
Regarding Acted's major achievements in 2020-2021:
Following the earthquake of August 14, 2021, which devastated the departments of Sud, Grande Anse and Nippes in Haiti, Acted is recruiting. Acted was one of the first humanitarian organizations to conduct rapid assessments to determine the extent of the damage and needs, and is already heavily mobilized to provide emergency aid to earthquake victims, in close collaboration with the Haitian authorities. Current activities include the delivery of drinking water, the distribution of hygiene kits and the conduct of sanitation and rehabilitation work on water networks, as well as the distribution of food, the payment of emergency financial aid, the distribution of basic necessities and, soon, the establishment of housing solutions for the most vulnerable people, in 12 municipalities in the 3 departments.
