We are seeking a Consultant Cardiologist to provide clinical services in the Department of Cardiology, focusing on inpatient, outpatient, cardiovascular unit, and procedural work for various heart and blood vessel conditions.

 

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Consultant Cardiologist to provide clinical services in the Department of Cardiology with clinical responsibilities divided between inpatient, outpatient, cardiovascular unit and procedural work. Cardiologists focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of many different heart and blood vessel conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart arrhythmia, high blood pressure, peripheral arterial disease and heart failure

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performs all requested Cardiology consultations, perform daily hospital rounds for the Cardiology service.  Participates in the interpretation of ECG, Echocardiograms, cardiac stress tests as scheduled and participates in the KEMH Cardiology on-call schedule
  • Develops Cardiology Care Maps for Inpatients and Outpatients to support the timely management of patients
  • Submits appropriate charges for all clinical activities
  • Participates in the Monday-Friday schedule of hospital Cardiology duties: includes but not limited to Hospital Consultations, Inpatient Cardiology Care, and participation in Cardiology Diagnostics
  • Maintains an Outpatient Cardiology consultative practice and comply with all Quality Assurance initiatives as requested by KEMH administration/Chief of Medicine and or at the request of the Chief of Staff. Ensures all patient charts and records are dictated, signed and completed as per the standard procedures of the HIMS Department

 

Qualifications & Registration required:

  • American Board of Internal Medicine Certification or equivalent (e.g., MRCP)
  • Successful completion of fellowship training in cardiology in a recognized training program
  • American Board of Medicine Subspecialty Cardiovascular Diseases. In the U.K. system, must have completed a minimum of 4 years of training in cardiology following qualification in internal medicine
  • Minimum of 1-3 years in the field of cardiology following successful completion of fellowship
  • Current registration with Medical Council/Board in relevant jurisdiction
  • Eligible to register with Bermuda Medical Council
