Assists in reviewing financial systems, evaluating management controls, executing audits, analyzing financial data, and reporting audit findings, while performing special reviews and using relevant computer applications.

 

Job Purpose

The Audit Assistant II (Financial) is required to assist in determining whether the various departments of the Regional Health Authority are performing their accounting, custodial and control activities in compliance with generally accepted Accounting Principles, Management Policies and Instructions.

The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management.

 

The core functions include but not limited to the following:

  • Assists the Senior Audit Assistant III in the review of the financial systems operating in the Authority.
  • Assists in the evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of Management Controls.
  • Assists in the execution of Audits in accordance with the audit plan and acceptable Auditing Standards/Guidelines.
  • Reports Audit findings to Senior Audit Assistant III (Financial).
  • Assists in the performance of Special Reviews.
  • Analyses financial information and performs reconciliations.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Ability to perform duties according to assigned rosters or plans that can be formulated in times of authorized service exigencies.
  • Ability to use the relevant computer applications related to job functions.

 

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • The incumbent is required to have completed Level II of a professional accounting program.
  • The incumbent must also possess at least one (1) year working experience in a Computerized Accounting Environment of three (3) years accounting experience.
