The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) seeks to engage an Accounts Officer who will be responsible for providing accounting and bookkeeping support within the Finance Department.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers.
  • Process accounts payables and reconcile vendor balances.
  • Process accounts receivables and reconcile receivable balances.
  • Collaborate with Petty Cash Custodians to verify and reconcile expenses with receipts, while ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
  • Post Petty Cash transactions and perform monthly account balance reconciliations.
  • Work with Credit Card holders to verify and reconcile transactions with receipts.
  • Post Credit Card transactions and perform monthly account balance reconciliations.
  • Post travel advances and related travel expenses.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Conduct VAT Filing.
  • Assist in providing support documentation for audits.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or other recognized accounting certificate(s).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work calmly and flexibly to respond to multiple competing business priorities.
  • Self-motived, results-oriented, focused, and hardworking.
  • Has good record-keeping and organizational skills.
